Birthdays' celebrations

This past Sunday I was invited by an Albanian family, very close to me, to celebrate a double birthday celebration of two of its members: a grandma and her grandchild. It was held in a very large restaurant, owned by an Albanian in Yonkers, NY, in the outskirts of New York City.

The family was hoping to enjoy this day outdoors since the restaurant is located along the water edge of the Hudson River, but after a couple months of gorgeous sunny weather and mild temperatures, Sunday turned out to be a rainy day. Nevertheless, we all had a wonderful time indoors, and enjoyed good food and lots and lots of conversation.

The  well behaved children kept themselves busy, quietly kibitzing around in the spacious area that we had at our disposal.  The adults, some of which came all the way from Canada for the occasion, updated themselves on family news,  and several came armed with professional cameras to record the occasion.  I was queried a lot about Albania by some of them, who have been absent from the country for many years, but where I regularly travel to and from for two decades now.

In  the evening we all end up in grandma's house, where she served excellent home made burek, cos (yogurt), and more sweets,  and  where we watched the daily news on the Albanian TV channel.

A very enjoyable day,  in very good company, indeed!  Renewed best wishes to the celebrants: a happy 70th and a happy 8th and many more to come!  Gezuar!
